Teething (chapter 1.3)

in the world of Tom Sawyer and my english assignment

"Hey Skye," he walked over and bear hugged me, much more gently than Ali – he was only a few inches shorter than her, though almost a head taller than me - and was warmer as well. Thankful for the heat, i embraced him closer. It wasn't weird or anything, Tyler was my closest, and best friend.

As we let go i fell forward, still not over the breathtaking squeeze Ali had put me through. Tyler laughed and grabbed me just before i hit the ground. Perfect reflexes.

"Ali look you've disabled her. How will she play basketball now?"  He teased.

She crossed her arms and gave Tyler a dirty look.

A fourth person came striding down the hall. "Now, now. No fighting. The two strongest people in school having a go at each other, it could end up pretty bad. The remains of the building will be used for scraps. Though i guess that's something i could live with."

Kal could always break Tyler and Ali up when they were arguing, no one else, not even me, could come close. It might be her wild, fiery red hair that was so intimidating, but i reckon, it was her sharp emerald eyes that did it. Kal could give you the death stare like nobodies business.

"Took your time. They were ready for the kill," I smiled, ambling over to her, my strength finally returning. Though Tyler, as protective as always, was watching my every move, ready to come and save me if i fell. Which i usually do, at least after one of Ali's hugs.

I pulled her into a cuddle and she reluctantly patted me on the back before pushing me away. "Ew. Hugs. No thanks. Ali, stay where you are," she demanded.

I laughed, stepping away from her. I guess school wasn't that bad-

BING. BING. BING.

-at least, until classes started.
